My 2007 games: 18 plays of 12 unique games, including 4 new ones I learned, and 4 I taught. Okay, do I open up a blog post "Games Played 2007," then edit it every time I play something this year? That seems unwieldy.

You could always post a link to the BoardGameGeek Games Played in your sidebar - http://boardgamegeek.com/profile.php?username=Gamethyme&action=extstats&subaction=playdump is the link for mine.
Your link would substitute your username for mine.
Huh. I already have the games-in-my-collection widget on my front page.
I'm not crazy about tapping the BGG server twice; you're right that it makes more sense to do so.
Alternately, I could throw the BGG Games Played link at the end of my game posts.

Anyhow, will Blogger let you pin a note or sidebar item up around your links or elsewhere on the page? Your list of gamecounts is something I would get a kick out of seening each time I visited your page.
It'd be just another link, not an applet. It wouldn't tap BGG's server unless someone followed the link.
You could also throw the link at the end of a weekly post - or just point at the link in the sidebar.
