Catch-Up

Larry, Chris, Jonathan, Heather, and I played Fische Fluppen Frikadellen, and then Larry, Jonathan, and I played Ra.

Four more games of Blue Moon City - four losses to Larry. Crazy.

Playtest last Thursday went well. This Thursday was my day to sit out, and Tim's prototype hit the table.

Sunday gaming at Larry's: Blue Moon City

Ah, another Sunday, another game of Blue Moon City. Larry and I dashed our pawns around the board, completing various buildings (we randomize all the buildings now, rather than use the standard setup). Larry won, with me only needing a scant 7 more crystals to buy victory.

Before that, he made me try Guitar Hero on his Playstation 2. It's a cute game, which requires you to press the frets on a toy guitar as the interface. As expected from my carpal-tunnel past, I was terrible at it, but it was still fun. I could see how you could get in the Guitar Hero groove and build your skills.

Dallas Gaming

Last Tuesday while I was in Dallas for Netbackup 6.0 for Unix training, I got to see my old college buddies Jacob and Julie, and play Cathedral, Carcassonne: The City, and Munchkin.

I was a little disappointed by Carcassonne: The City. There's a city wall, and little random chits are given out as a reward for scoring certain values. That part was good, forcing decisions between scoring early and building for higher totals. The artwork is just uglier, and the completist in me would like to see the entire city filled up, rather than have several gaps left at game's end.

The Munchkin game we played was unremarkable, except in brevity. Jacob and Julie both ascended rapidly to level 9, and from there Jacob went to 10. Rough stuff, all around.
